PIZZA, PIZZA! Two new eateries, Jet's and Rotolo's, to serve up slices in Destin

There is great news for all hungry Italophiles. Destin is about to get two new pizza places, and both are hiring.
Jet’s Pizza, situated next to Pearl Vision in the Paradise Key shopping center, is set to open in early March. This location is hiring for full- and part-time positions, from in-store employees to delivery drivers. Email pgecmike@gmail.com.
Rotolo’s Pizzeria, located next to Yogurt Mountain across the street from Mellow Mushroom at 985 U.S. Hwy. 98 E, has set its opening for March 1. Rotolo’s has been hiring for all positions, front- and back-of-house. Visit www.rotolos.com/jobs to apply or call 850-269-5600 for more details.
Rotolo’s Pizzeria is a sit-down restaurant with a full menu, full bar and plenty of TVs. The franchise boasts almost two-dozen Gulf Coast locations, with the nearest being in Gulf Breeze.
Rotolo’s, which started in Baton Rouge, La., will bring a bit of Cajun flair to its menu, which will offer customers a full range of Italian fare, from calzones to pasta to, of course, pizza.
To boot, Rotolo’s is the official pizza of the New Orleans Saints.
“After the games, we feed both teams,” said Matt Bergeron, recalling a post-game photo in which Brett Favre, quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings, was carrying out four Rotolo’s pizzas after a 14-9 loss in the Saints’ Superdome.
Though official hours are not yet set for this location, they will plan to “satisfy late night customers,” according to Bergeron.
“It’s good for families, and good for sports fans,” said Bergeron. “It’s just a fun atmosphere.”
Just a few miles down the road, Jet’s is a family owned and operated franchise that will specialize in deep dish pizza, which can be topped by a myriad of ingredients. In addition, the shop will offer a full slate of menu items, including sub sandwiches and salads.
“It’s a whole gamut of food,” said Nick Borst, who co-owns the shop with his brother, Mike.
Though it is a franchise, the ingredients for the pizzas will be sourced locally.
“The produce will all be coming from Crestview,” said Mike.
Added Nick, “We will come in early every day and make our dough.”
This is the first franchise they will own, but the Borst brothers have a longstanding history with Jet’s Pizza.
“Our father, since the early ’70s, has been eating Jet’s Pizza,” said Mike. The first Jet’s Pizza opened in 1978 in Sterling Heights, Mich.
Additionally, Mike started working at one of the pizza shop’s locations when he was 15 years old.
“I worked there for five years, and I would eat it every day,” said Mike, attesting to its quality.
“Pizza in Michigan is very popular,” added Nick. “Everyone in the Midwest knows Jet’s Pizza.”
The freshness and quality of ingredients, paired with the affordability, will make Jet’s Pizza a must-try when it opens, according to the brothers.
Jet’s is located at 4418 Commons Drive Suite B-2, which is along the back road home for many locals and they can be reached at 850-654-5387. The business will be primarily pick-up and delivery. Jet’s Pizza is available for delivery from the Destin Pass to Mack Bayou.
