New poll online: From sand to sharks
Recently, The Log asked readers “What is the long term solution to the Norriego Point problem?”
Of almost 700 votes cast, a whopping 73 percent of respondents said to armor the point with a seawall, while 10 percent said to let Mother Nature take its course. About 6 percent said there is no permanent fix and to dredge the pass every year. About 5 percent of respondents said the city should buy its own dredge, while only 2 percent thought planting more sea oats would do the trick. Two percent just didn’t care, while about one percent favored returning to the days of draglines. The most unpopular option was to sell the point to a private company, which only garnered two favorable votes.
