MTV to show off Destin 'Cribs' of All American Rejects' Ritter, Wheeler (with photo)
All-American Rejects fans, this is for you:
I learned some weeks ago that when MTV was in Panama City for spring break during March, they brought their cameras a little far-ther west and filmed a "Cribs" episode featuring lead singer Tyson Ritter and guitarist Nick Wheeler.
For those unfamiliar with the show, it's sort of a way-cooler version of "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous."
I
contacted AAR's publicity people for an air date and got one late last
week. AAR has posted it on their Web site (allamericanrejects.com) now,
too.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, July 11. The time listed is 2-2:30 p.m. Eastern. So that should be 1-1:30 p.m. local time.
The description of the show on allamericanrejects.com is: "Tyson & Nick take MTV's CRIBS on tours of their Florida homes!"
If you read my feature story about the band back in January, you know that they live here with us on the Emerald Coast. In fact, Tyson occasionally gives shout-outs to local businesses, including a Fort Walton Beach skateshop in a video that was on the band's Web site Monday.
"We love Destin," he told me previously. "I may be from Oklahoma, but Destin is home to me."
They're back in the States at the moment after touring in Europe, with concerts in Germany, France, Austria and England, not necessarily in that order.
Later this summer they will be on tour with Blink 182 in Canada, and the United States. They're also going to do some concerts in Australia.
According to the Web site, which is constantly updated, they have another television appearance scheduled for July 17 when they will perform at Rockefeller Center Plaza in New York as part of "The Today Show" Summer Concert Series. No word on which song they'll play.
And they have a song, "Real World," on the soundtrack for the new "Transformers" movie.
So, there you have it, kids. Enjoy!
Reed Waddle, another local favorite, has posted on his Web site (reedwaddle.com) a video of his performance at the Taylor Haughen Foundation benefit concert that AAR headlined in March at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center.
The song is "Piece by Piece," and the video is nicely done. Check it out.
