Man says no to DUI, then confesses to drinking 2, 3, then 4 beers
DESTIN — A 21-year-old man was arrested April 28 on charges of DUI alcohol, which is his third violation in 10 years.
Billy John Blankenship was pulled over for failure to stay in a single lane while traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 98 near Hurricane Lanes.
According to an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s report, Blankenship had “bloodshot, watery and glassy eyes” and “there was an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the car.”
The deputy asked Blankenship if he had been drinking and, according to the report, at first Blankenship said no. Then said he had two beers, then three beers and then four beers.
After performing a field sobriety test, Blankenship was arrested for a felony DUI. This made his third DUI in nine months, the report said.
