It is no secret that the City of Destin is the most beautiful place on earth, filled with the most kind-hearted people imaginable, and it is my honor and privilege to promote this wonderful place as often as possible.
As the mayor, I often speak to local clubs and organizations, as well as regional and state groups, on many topics regarding our city. These topics range from life in a small, coastal tourist town to legislative impacts on our local economy.
Destin plays a large role in our area so it is important that we, as a city, do everything possible to provide a world-class place to live, work and play, ensuring our economic vitality, as well as providing a great quality of life for our citizens.
On Feb. 28, 2013, I will present the annual State of the City Address to the Destin community. I invite and encourage everyone to attend this event at the council chambers at the City Hall Annex, 4100 Indian Bayou Trail next to the dog park.
My presentation on Feb. 28 will provide an overview of the city’s major accomplishments from 2012; give insight into the city’s financial stability; highlight the city’s workforce and council; and take a brief look at the coming year. It is my goal to paint a picture of where we stand as a city and give you information for a better understanding of the goings-on at city hall.
We have so many things to be thankful for, and I am thrilled to give this presentation to the community. We saw minimal setbacks last year as we moved forward with scheduled capital projects like the construction of the Destin Harbor Boardwalk, and we hosted several successful events. Overall, 2012 saw many accomplishments and proved to be a positive year for Destin, and I cannot wait to share it with you.
The event is open to the public and refreshments will be provided. I hope to see you all there.
Sarah “Sam” Seevers is mayor of the city of Destin.
