BREAKING NEWS: Boathouse collapses in Shalimar; four injured (PHOTOS)
SHALIMAR — Four people were injured early Monday afternoon after the boat they were riding in crashed into a dock on Garnier Bayou, causing a boathouse to collapse on top of them.
One person was flown to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola and three others were taken to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center after the accident, according to Ocean City-Wright Battalion Chief Scott Funchess.
None of their injuries are life-threatening, said Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokeswoman Joy Hill.
Officials weren’t releasing the identities of the injured Monday night, but Hill said they were from another state.
Three other people with the group were not injured, Funchess said.
The FWC is still investigating the crash, but initial reports indicate that the boat struck a dock behind a home at 1 Marlborough Road around 12:30 p.m. and crashed into a boathouse, Hill said. The impact then caused the boathouse to collapse on top of the boat.

No one was on the dock the time of the crash. The boathouse’s owner could not be reached for comment.
Three off-duty firefighters witnessed the crash from across the bayou and rushed to the scene to help until other emergency personnel were able to get there, Funchess said.
“They pretty much saved the one we flew out,” he said.
Hill said the investigation will take awhile to complete, and it wasn't clear whether alcohol was a factor.
