Michael Tate Caicedo

Man dines and dashes on five glasses of wine, tries to kick deputy

A 42-year-old Ohio man recently stormed out of the Olive Garden in Destin after a manager wouldn’t serve him a sixth glass of Pinot Grigio.

Michael Tate Caicedo sat down at the restaurant about 3 p.m. Aug. 31, according to an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office arrest report. He ordered pasta and a salad and consumed five glasses of wine throughout the meal. When he asked for more wine, his waitress went to her manager because he seemed intoxicated.

The manager said she wouldn’t serve him any more alcohol for his own safety and offered a cup of coffee, the report said. Caicedo yelled at her, “calling her a fake and not a manager.”

The commotion prompted the manager to seek out the general manager, and Caicedo left without paying his $43.36 bill, according to the report. Another employee followed him out and called lawmen, who arrived and made contact with the man.

When a deputy asked him to provide identification, Caicedo handed over a Mobile County Metro Jail ID card with the name Michael T. Wallace, the report said. He resisted the deputy, folding his hands to avoid being handcuffed and trying to kick the deputy.

He also tried to kick another deputy in the face while she was shackling him with leg irons, but she blocked his attempts, the report said. The Sheriff’s Office later discovered he had an Ohio license with his real name and address.

Caicedo was charged with resisting an officer with violence, disorderly conduct, providing a false name and defrauding an innkeeper. He is due in circuit court Oct. 15.
