LETTER: Shark Saturdays are a selfish and evil act
Shark hunts are back at the Destin Fishing Rodeo.
Sharks kill to survive.
Humans at shark hunts kill sharks for pleasure and often hoist their carcasses so that others can gawk at the sharks' once-majestic bodies.
Humans are the only species on this planet who kill solely for pleasure. Killing any species for pleasure is not sport; it is a selfish, evil act. And many of these humans call themselves good, God-fearing individuals!
In the philosophy of karma, an individual is paid back 10 times for each act of goodness and 10 times for each act of evil in his or her next state of being.
To see another perspective of how sharks and humans relate, Google "incredible shark" to see a film clip that shows how a loving relationship between an Australian fisherman and a 17-foot female white shark has existed for more than two years, starting when the fisherman freed the shark from certain death in a net.
