Out of eight teams competing in the Okaloosa County Middle School Tennis Tournament at Bluewater Bay Tennis Center, the Destin Marlins finished in the top half of the brackets.

The Destin boys placed third overall, while the girls came in fourth.

In the singles competition Best of the Best Tournament, Destin’s No. 1 seed Brody Miller made it to the quarterfinals while No. 2 Ethan Eubanks made it to the semifinals.

As for the girls, Madison Clark, Destin’s No. 1, made it to the round of 16.

 

“I’m so thankful for such a great bunch of girls and boys this year,” said Destin Coach Brett Chipser. “They worked so hard all season, were so supportive of each other and most of all show true sportsmanship both on and off the court, which always leads to a great team and competing at a high level.”

The Destin boys finished the regular season 6-2, while the girls finished 5-3.

“I’m so proud of each and every player,” Chipser said.

Niceville’s Ruckel Middle School girls and boys won the team title at the county championships while Liza Jackson of Fort Walton Beach came in second in both girls and boys.

In the county Best of the Best Tournament, Grisha Soloviev of Liza Jackson won for the boys  while Marcella Schmidt of Ruckel won the girls competition.
