The Destin All Stars beat DeFuniak Springs and then Paxton to live to play another day in the 6-8 year old Machine Pitch Florida District 1 Tournament held at Dalton Threadgill Little League Park in Destin.

Destin was scheduled to play Niceville All Stars Friday at 6 p.m. Results were not available at press time.

As for Thursday’s 9-0 victory over Paxton, Destin dominated.

“We got the job done on defense and we hit the ball better tonight,” said Destin Coach Justin Ray. “We found a few barrels at the plate in this game.”

Pulling off good defensive plays for the Destin All Stars against Paxton were Cooper Wood, Maddox Mason, Cannon Wilbur and Caden Job.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Destin team whipped the DeFuniak Springs 14-4.

Destin put the five-run limit on the board in the bottom of the first inning. Ethan Thomas singled and scored on a shot from Wilbur. Brooks Chouinard singled and Will Greenwood ripped a single to left center for two RBIs. Destin led 5-1.

In the top of the second, DeFuniak scored three runs on two hits and a couple of throwing errors. McKade Nelson and Jacob Dorriety each singled.

In the bottom half, Destin got the three runs back. Connor Job and Wood hit back-to-back singles with Job scoring. Mason reached on a fielder’s choice. Caden Job grounded out and Destin’s Wood and Mason scored for an 8-4 game.

In the third, Destin added one run on four hits. Brody Ray, Chouinard, Greenwood and Will Wortman each singled.

In the bottom of the fourth, Destin put the game away with five runs for a 10-run ruling on the game. Caden Job had a single for an RBI and Parker Yates singled to left center for two RBIs.
