In a defensive battle, the Destin Dolphin Juniors lost 7-0 to Niceville 3 in Panhandle Youth Football Association action at Twin Oaks Park in Niceville on Saturday.
Destin had the ball first and moved it past midfield before turning it over on downs.
Both teams struggled to make a first down until Destin’s Andrew Atkins broke a long run with a couple of minutes left to play in the first half. Atkins got the ball down near the Niceville 20-yard line. On the next play, Braxton Beard picked up a few more yards taking it to the 11-yard line. However, the Dolphins were unable to score or make a first down.
With 40 seconds left to play in the first half, Niceville took over on the 5-yard line, where one of their running backs broke four tackles and scampered the distance for the only touchdown of the game.
