Behind a relentless defense and do-no-wrong offense, the Destin Dolphin Seniors shutout Niceville 2 in the Panhandle Youth Football Association on Saturday in Fort Walton Beach by a score of 32-0.
“Every thing just worked on offense. Our offensive line did a fantastic job,” said Destin Coach Ryan Orr, noting the leadership of assistant coach Lionel Fayard.
In the first half, Destin jumped out to a 19-0 lead and then put the nail in the coffin when Eli Williams broke a 75-yard run to the end zone to start the second half.
Williams had four touchdowns on the day. He had a 15-yard catch-and-run for a score and then two other running TDs in addition to the 75-yarder. Maddox Fayard had a 35-yard catch from Harrison Orr for a touchdown. For the game, Orr was five of six through the air.
As for the defense, “We just shut them out,” Orr said. “Coach Chris Larabee had a good defensive scheme for us.”
Making big plays on defense for the Dolphins were Carsten Phillips, who had several tackles and batted down a pass, Brandon and Christian Harnish and Brick Larabee.
Other notables for the Destin Dolphins were Garrett Jacobs at center and nose guard Eric Scott.
“I couldn’t be happier with the team’s performance. They gave 100 percent,” Orr said.
Team captains for the day were Austin McDowell, Archer Yates, David Bowen and Dalton Taylor.
