The city of Destin, Kindred at Home Health Care, Home Instead Senior Care, Brookdale Senior Living, Florida Sports Foundation, Trustmark Bank, Paddletek and Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. sponsored the fourth annual Destin/Emerald Coast Senior Games last month.
There were more than 200 participants in 15 Olympic-type sporting events. Participants had to register and pay a participant fee to enter and received a shirt.
Winners of the events received gold, silver and bronze medals based on age groups. The events were basketball, free throw, spot shooting, 3 on 3, billiards, bowling, croquet, horseshoes, pickle ball, swimming, tennis, track volleyball, beach volleyball, racquetball, and table tennis.
The event is coordinated by Pat Markey, senior program director for the city of Destin. State games are held in December in Clearwater.
