The Ruckel Rams put the Destin Marlins away in five innings, 15-3, in middle school girl’s softball action Monday afternoon in Niceville.

Destin got on the board first with two runs on a couple of hits in the top of the first. Samantha Sherer led with a single and scored on a hit from Ava Smith. Ashlyn Priest doubled to score Elaina Perkins, who reached on a walk, for a 2-0 start.

Ruckel, however, answered with six in the bottom half on four hits.

In the second, Destin loaded the bases but failed to get a runner home.

Ruckel continued to bury the Marlins in the bottom of the second putting up nine runs on two hits and nine walks.

Destin scored one last run in the top of the third. Priest singled and scored on a hit from Sherer.

The Marlins put a stop to Ruckel in the last couple of innings, but it was too little to late.

Top batters for Destin were Sherer, Smith and Priest, who each went two-for-three at bat.

Leading Ruckel was Mary Owens with a triple and a home run.

Up next for Destin is a 4 p.m. game at home Wednesday against the Davidson Panthers.
