Niceville senior Chance Huff threw a no-hitter to shut out the South Walton Seahawks 8-0 in varsity baseball action earlier this week on The Hill in Niceville.

Huff faced 23 batters, struck out 12 and walked two in the seven inning win.

“Our biggest issue tonight was they’ve got a pretty good pitcher and he threw a pretty good game … got to tip your hat to him,” said South Walton Coach Nick Borthwick. “We didn’t get a hit, but we’ll just keep working.

“We’ve got a good young group and I’m proud of them,” he added.

The Seahawks didn’t back down throughout the game and managed to put the bat on the ball. However, they couldn't find a hole.

In the first inning, the Seahawks went down quickly on a strikeout and two ground outs.

Niceville, on the other hand, put three runs on the board. Nic Nolan singled to left and scored on a single up the middle by Noah Bailey. Rece Hinds followed with a double up the middle. Dawson Marshall grounded out but Bailey scored. Hunter Hansill singled to left to score Hinds for a 3-0 lead.

In the top of the second after the first two Seahawks grounded out, Drake Roberts drew a walk. Roberts stole second before the next batter struck out.

Niceville picked up two more runs in the bottom half on a couple of hits from Bailey and Hinds.

In the third, Niceville put another run on the board. Hansill doubled down the right field line and scored on a passed ball at the plate.

In the top of the fourth, South Walton got another runner on base with Kyle Vogler drawing a walk. But again he was left stranded when the next two batters grounded out.

Niceville scored two last runs in the bottom of the fourth, both unearned.

The next couple of innings went quickly with neither team getting a hit.

Up next for South Walton is a 6:30 p.m. game at Bozeman on Monday.
