After dropping a close one on the road earlier this week, the Destin Marlins bounced back to post back-to-back victories on the volleyball court.

On Tuesday, the Marlins traveled to Fort Walton Beach and put the Pryor Pirates away 25-12, 25-15.

“I was proud of the way they handled the game after coming off the loss to Baker,” said Destin Coach Katie Davies after Destin lost 2-1 at Baker on Monday. “I was impressed with their performance. … Our serving was really good.”

Destin’s Jessica Pierce served up nine straight points in the first game against Pryor.

In game two, Ava Smith, Kyla Buehner and Kiersten Martin each served up three or more points for the Marlins.

As for Wednesday, the Marlins hosted the Lewis Falcons of Valparaiso and sent them flying 25-8, 25-11.

Buehner and Martin served up three points each early on in game one, and then Presley Foster added three more before Pierce and Blakely York added four points each. Amrah DeSimone finished it up with a shot for the win.

In game two, Presley made a run at the service line putting up five straight. The longest run was seven consecutive points put up by Pierce. Buehner picked the last point for the Marlins.

“Even with their fatigue and exhaustion they still played well tonight,” Davies said. “I’m happy with their performance, but I actually wished their passing had been a little bit better.”

Up next for the Marlins is a 5:30 p.m. home game next Wednesday against Liza Jackson.
