In a tri-meet with Meigs and Freeport middle schools, the Destin Marlins finished first in a 2-mile cross country event in Shalimar Wednesday.
The Destin girls won by a score of 19, while the boys placed first with 21 points.
First in and overall winners were Destin’s Sophie Kellogg, with a mark of 12:54 in the girl’s competition, and Cason Larocque, with a time of 12:02 for the boys.
Sara Crews, Emily Kellogg, MJ Toth, Chloe Lambreau, Caroline Stanford and Stacie Roberson were the top seven female runners for the Marlins, including Sophie.
Top seven boys for Destin were Larocque, Andrey Lukin, Alex Lukin, Daniil Baturyn, Alex Ruiz, Dominic Witt, and Nelson Burke.
Up next for the Destin Marlins is a 5 p.m. meet on Sept. 26 at Freeport Middle School. Participating schools, in addition to Destin, will be Liza Jackson, St. Mary’s, Meigs, Lewis, Baker, Bruner, Ruckel, Davidson, Shoal River, Pryor, Walton, Emerald Coast and Freeport.
