Beach Technical thwarts Destiny

Nelson Santiago knocked in two runs to lead Beach Technical in an 11-9 victory over Destiny Worship Center Blue team in the Coed Softball Recreational Division A play at Morgan Sports Center in Destin.

Santiago belted a home run, triple and a single for two RBIs.

At the end of three innings, Beach Tech was on top 6-4.

Matt Babcock hit three singles for two RBIs for Beach Tech. Cheryl Trapnell hit two singles for an RBI, and Jim Guy connected for a triple and two singles.

Mike Manthey and Steve Bartlett each smacked a home run and a single for an RBI for Destiny Blue. Luke Lewis hit three singles for an RBI, Brittney Mainor doubled and singled for an RBI, and Ace Crank ripped a home run and a double for an RBI.

FWB stepped out to a 10-0 lead in the first inning. The game was over in five.

Zack Bryant was the big hitter for FWB with two homers, a triple and a single for nine RBIs. Bryan Moore popped two doubles and a single for two RBIs, and Carrie Dunning doubled and singled for two RBIs. Kyle Whigham hit a home run.

•Sacred Heart 30, Florida Septic and Sewer 18

At the end of two innings, Sacred Heart led 13-4. In the fourth inning, Sacred Heart scored the 10-run limit to put the game away.

Steve Rivera clobbered a home run, a double and three singles for five RBIs. Eddie Rivera homered and hit four singles for five RBIs, and Crystal Cheatham doubled and hit four singles for two RBIs. Jesse Hernandez belted a home run.

Lamar Martin doubled and hit three singles for two RBIs for Florida Septic. Mindy McIver connected for four singles for an RBI, and Leo Chen hit four singles for three RBIs.
