Tropical Smoothie wins first in Destin tourney

Tropical Smoothie, an 11-12 girls major league softball team, finished the season with a 12-3 record and the tournament championship in the Destin Little League Association.

This was the first year for the Destin girls to play interleague with teams from Shalimar, Crestview and Niceville. Destin’s Tropical Smoothie played eight away games and six home games and finished the season with a 6-5 win over Matthews and Hawkins in the end-of-season tournament.

Players on the championship team include Meagan Hovenden, Sabrina Locht, Ashton Bedsole, Kiera Wrobel, Gracie Price, Haylie Starr, Hanah Mathes, Tory Strand, Abigail Conn, Shelby Teeter and Tate Armstrong.

Team manager was Webb Riley with coaches Mike Bedsole and Tina Price.
