D-Unit continues grade A-streak with a 40-0 blowout
Destin United Methodist D-Unit caught Destin Assembly of God off guard for a 40-0 win in the Destin Church Youth Group Flag Football League at Morgan Sports Center.
The first half sealed the game early for the Methodist team; both Eric Leurinda and Russell Blackledge pulled in interceptions, Blackledge’s going all the way back for a defensive touchdown.
Brett Ochsenreiter, Brantley Willis and Mason Charles all scored first-half touchdowns for the D-Unit, making the score 27-0 at the half.
Destin Assembly did show one sign of life in the second half, when Taylor Motes burned the D-Unit’s Kyle Andre right down the middle and caught a pass with one hand.
For the D-Unit, the second half brought more of the same; Charles and Andre both scored to bring the total up to 40 points.
•Grace Lutheran 24, Destin Assembly 10
Destin Assembly came out slightly more prepared for Grace Lutheran.
Trevor Cole scored three points and caught an interception early on for Destin Assembly, and it looked as if Assembly might have a shot at winning.
However, the first half was won by strong effort on both sides of the ball for Grace; the team scored 18 points on offense and caught two interceptions on defense. Josh Little and Parker Willingham caught the interceptions, and the offensive production was due to touchdowns by Willingham (one) and Roy Finch (two).
Garrett Fletcher scored a touchdown for Grace in the second half, and John Skocelas scored one for Destin Assembly.

The last game brought the lowest combined score of the evening, and the only action in the first half was a touchdown by Steven Vaggalis for Destiny.
Grace took the lead in the second, with Garrett Fletcher scoring a touchdown which was capped off with a Roy Finch extra point.
Parker Willingham, also of Grace, scored a touchdown of his own and caught an interception on defense.
