Destin boys place second in county tournament, girls fifth

The Destin boys tennis team placed second in the Okaloosa County Middle School Tennis Tournament at the Tennis Center in Fort Walton Beach this week, one point behind Ruckel Middle of Niceville. The Destin girls came in fifth.
On day one of the tournament, Destin’s No. 1 seed Cole Rowan won his first match and then lost the second. Chase Gaddis, No 2 for Destin, split in his two matches with a win in the first.
Behrens Watkins won first place in the No. 3 spot.
Pace McDonald, No. 4 player, made it to the semifinals as did No. 5 player Banks Sumrall.
On day two, Rowan lost to the second seeded player in the No. 1 division. Watkins won his first match and then lost to the first seeded player in the No. 1 division.
In girls play, Destin’s Stephanie Pridgen, Jessie Larabee and Natahsa Locht each won their first match on day one and lost the second. Olivia Rockwell lost her first but won the second, and Lindsay Davis lost her first but went on to win the consolation division.
On day two, Pridgen won her first two matches and then lost in the semifinals.
