For years Destin has been known as the "World's Luckiest Fishing Village ."

Not only is it lucky in fishing, but it's lucky to hold the states largest fishing fleet located in one harbor working out of one Pass.

"A lot of peoples’ first exposure to the area was to go on a fishing trip," said Capt. Gary Jarvis of the Backdown 2.

In the early days, "Fishing is what put Destin on the map," said Jarvis who also serves as president of the Destin Charter Boat Association which has more than 80 members.

"And fishing still has an impact," he said noting it represents more than 100 small businesses along the harbor.

In the last few months, some new boats have been added along the harbor such as Al-Le, Destination, Silver Hook and Boise to name a few.

In addition to new boats, some captains have changed boats or locations, while others are docked right where they have always been.
