Lady Marlins blast Bruner Spartans
The Lady Marlins went out with a bang Monday afternoon posting a 13-3 win over the Bruner Spartans in the final game of the middle school softball season.
The win gives the Destin Marlins a 6-3 finish on the year.
“We came out ready to play today,” said Destin Coach Carrie Plasier as she walked off the field.
“They played as a team and we made the plays defensively.”
Destin held the Spartans to only three runs, one in the third inning and two in the sixth.
The Marlins, on the other hand, scored one in the first and three in the third inning. In the next two innings, Destin just chipped away at Bruner with one in the fourth and one run in the fifth.
In the seventh inning, Destin put the game away with seven runs.
Rachel Dehlinger led the Marlins with a double and a single. Jennifer Bazylak, Katrina Lathi and Minie Corcoran each had two hits. Brooke Lawson doubled and Summer Dawson singled.
“We came out swinging today,” Plasier said. “We saw our A-team on the field today.”
