Destin Middle School spring sports begin

Spring sports teams at Destin Middle School are warming up and getting ready to take to the fields, tracks, golf courses and tennis courts.

The teams have been selected and are as follows:

GOLF

Girls — Erin McGary, Lauren Holland, Catherine Catanese, April Rowe, Kirsta Kingsbury, Savannah Bartleson, Jesi Harrell and Alex Page. They are coached by Patricia Malpass. First game is 3 p.m. Thursday at Indian Bayou in Destin against Shoal River.

Boys — Alex Lucking, Tiger Scheyd, Jamie Wilson, Hayden Welch, Brock Ochsenreiter, Tyler Cohen, Cole Buck, Alex Tway and Evan Seagle. Kelly Richbourg is coach. The boys play at 3 p.m. Thursday at Regatta Bay against Shoal River.

TENNIS

Girls — Maci Maldonado, Claire Atkins, Kyleigh Farne, Shelby Campbell, Caroline Oswalt, Nile Johnson, Ellison Libby and Natasha Locht.

Boys — Ben Baumgardner, Brock Baumgardner, Will Blanchard, Erik Collins, Dezmond Fortenberry, Gibson Holahan, Colton Phillips, Casey Ponder, Chase Pridgen, Max Provler, Karl Skipper, Connor Tamasello and Behrens Watkins.

Ronda Pridgen is coach. The teams play at 4 p.m. Thursday against Meigs. Games are at Sandpiper Cove in Destin.

TRACK

Girls — Eighth graders are Sami Ditmar, Erin England, Natalie Lawson, Katie Logan, Rachel Simmons, Haley Smith, Savannah Smith, Alexis Starling, Hallie Troell and Steffi Zwarg. Seventh graders are Sydney Ditmar, Taylor Forbes, Caroline Krafcik, Cassidy Raven, Diana Marquez and Jordan Pearson. Sixth graders are Jessica Cobble, Lauren Hunter, Tori Parks, Allyssa Pulmano, Keaton Farne, Beppy Watkins, Tarra LaSalle, Adelle Adamson and Christina Broadway. They are coached by Wendy Winters.

Boys — Eighth graders are Brendan Burke, Peyton Chase, Vinnie Ciuello, Luis Melecio-Zambrano, Charlie Shackelford, Matt Wise, Nick Quinn and Jared Chandler. Seventh graders are Zander Angelovic, David Beaudry, Ryan Cole, Isaiah Denman, Grant Leytham, Storm Thayer and Austin Shaw. Sixth graders are Cameron Gates, Andy Herrmann, Ross Lawrence, Patrick McNair, Elijah Schneidewind, Carson Wicke, Greg Torney and Brandon Edelman. Fifth graders are Riley Carr and Shelton Connor. Coach is Ben Kackley.

The team’s first track meet is Wednesday, March 24 at home against Lewis and Shoal River middle schools.

SOFTBALL

Eighth graders are Jada Donaldson, Alex Goebel, Erin Groth, Jessica Holton, Caroline Lathi, Hanah Mathes, Breanna Nichols, Gracie Price and Brooke Yates. Seventh graders are Nikki Kilpatrik, Kaylah Maxwell, Devon Rhodes and Haylie Starr. Fifth graders are Faith Ford and Ryen Goebel. Carrie Plaiser is the coach. First game is at 4 p.m. Thursday at home against Meigs Middle School.

BASEBALL

Scott Hemond is coach. First game is 4 p.m. Thursday at home against Miegs Middle School.
