For her third time since being elected mayor, Sam Seevers will present the State of the City Address Thursday.

“We did many great things in 2012, and I look forward to sharing our highlights with the community, as well as sharing the efforts of the wonderful partnerships we have in Destin," she said.

The annual event, which has been held for the past 27 years, offers the city's mayor the opportunity to address Destin's residents, while showcasing the city's accomplishments from the year that was 2012.

Whether it was the opening of the Destin Dog Park, the completion of the harbor boardwalk, Seevers said the city's residents have much to be thankful for and plenty to be proud of.

"We had huge strides and huge accomplishments with the dog park and the harbor boardwalk, but we also had major accomplishments internally, such as budget awards and things that are not seen from the outside," she said.

The 28th Annual State of the City Address will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the City Hall Annex at 4100 Indian Trail. Food and refreshments will be served.

As of Tuesday, Seevers said she wasn't nervous about her speech, but more excited to showcase the city she loves.

"I'm very passionate about what this city does," she said. "I want to make sure that we give the credit where it's due."
