Raisin’ of the Green fundraiser

Corned beef and cabbage will be on the menu from 12-4 p.m. March 17 at the Magnolia Grill, 157 Brooks Street in Fort Walton Beach, when the restaurant hosts a special St. Patrick’s Day event benefitting Catholic Charities and the Fisher House of the Emerald Coast. The “Raisin’ of the Green” fundraiser will feature the traditional St. Patrick’s Day meal of corned beef, cabbage and potatoes. Attendees will enjoy lively Irish music, and those who are feeling lucky can take part in a 50/50 donation drawing.

The Gathering

The Gathering at Sandestin, a non-denominational Christian worship service, meets weekly at 10 a.m. in the Terrace Room of the Linkside Conference Center in the Sandestin Resort. David Seering, worship leader, and Billy Gray, pastor, lead the service.

On March 17, Shirley Simpson will be the guest speaker. Simpson is a well known professional actress who has appeared all over the country performing the lead in such productions as “Driving Miss Daisy," “The Lion in Winter," “The Gin Game” and many others.

Simpson lives in Sandestin and has also presented several one-woman shows which she wrote, depicting Gracie Allen, Katherine Hepburn and Erma Bomback. 

Seering is a local entertainer who has performed for the military, three presidents, and a multitude of recording stars, not to mention many local events and charities. Gray is head of Billy Gray Ministries, a global missionary group that brings the Word of Christ. More information can be found at www.thegatheringsandestin.com.

Sathya Sai Baba

Guest speakers, Ted Henry and Jody Cleary, present their 20 minute video "Who is Sai Baba?" at 2 p.m. March 17. Refreshments will be served. Call 642-0183 for address and directions.

Easter service

Emerald Coast Baptist Church, 734 Legion Drive in the Buck Destin facility, will have services at 10: a.m. and 5:30 p.m. March 31.

Sunrise Service

A sunrise service will be held at 6 a.m. March 31 on the beach at Beasley Park on U.S. 98 on Okaloosa Island. Good Shepherd Lutheran, Shalimar; Grace Lutheran, Destin; Holy Trinity Lutheran, Fort Walton Beach; and St. Paul Lutheran, Niceville, will sponsor the service. Bring chair or blanket and please stay off the dunes.

Emerald Coast Revival Time

Emerald Coast Baptist Church will hold a time of revival with lively congregational singing, old-fashioned gospel preaching and Holy Spirit led worship at 7 p.m. nightly April 1-3 at 734 Legion Drive in the Buck Destin facility. Guest preacher will be Pastor Barry Rackley from Roversville, Tenn.

Upper Room Morning Worship

Gather in the “upper room” upstairs at Marlin Grill in The Village of Baytowne Wharf at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort at 9 a.m. each Sunday for an interdenominational morning service of teaching, praise and worship. Dress casual. Call 543-4382.
