A man who allegedly touched another man’s wife inappropriately and threatened to kick a puppy in the face was arrested for disorderly intoxication, according to an arrest report.

The string of incidents occurred March 22 in and around Destin harbor. An Okaloosa County Sheriff’s deputy was called to the Red Door Saloon around 8 p.m. to deal with a drunken man who was causing a disturbance. The deputy found him in the outside bar. His palms and face were bleeding. The deputy, who knew the man had a history of resisting arrest, immediately detained him.

The deputy called for medical assistance. Meanwhile the man, who is 32 and has no permanent address, began trying to trip the deputy. The deputy put him on the ground, where he flailed and resisted other deputies until he was taken to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center. During the trip he kicked the deputy’s patrol cruiser, and when he arrived at the hospital he resisted the medical staff.

A witness later told the deputy he saw the man behind Galati Yacht Sales in a heated argument with a family of four. Apparently the man had inappropriately touched the other man’s wife. Fearing a fight, the witness stepped in and separated the two. He saw the intoxicated man go into the Boathouse Oyster Bar, but was told to leave because he was drunk and acting in a disorderly manner.

Another witness said the man threatened to kick his puppy in the face near HarborWalk Marina. Security people got rid of him, but he was later seen harassing people along the boardwalk. He then went to the Red Door Saloon, where personnel noticed he appeared to be very intoxicated or under the influence of drugs.

He was charged with resisting an officer without violence and disorderly intoxication. His court date is April 9.
