The 10th Destin’s Week of Blessings takes place May 5-11. The 56th Annual Blessing Of The Fleet will be held on Ascension Day, May 9. The Blessing of the Fleet, hosted by Immanuel Anglican Church, brings area churches together with the Destin Fishing Co-op to celebrate Destin's unique sea-going heritage.

Events include:

• May 5: Blessing of the Families. Each participating church will join in during Sunday service and honor and bless the families in their churches and have special time for dedicated prayer for them. 

• May 6: Citywide Day of Prayer and Fasting. Everyone is encouraged to pray and fast throughout the day for the city.

• May 7: Pastor Ministry Day. Pastors will go out in prayer teams and visit specific "community" places in both South Walton and Destin. Stops often include places such as the fire stations, police departments, schools, hospital, nursing homes, and some non-profit businesses.

• May 8: Blessing of the Marketplace. The event begins at 11:30 a.m. and concludes by 1:30 p.m. in the Life Center at the Destin United Methodist Church, 200 Beach Drive. Lunch will be provided. Pastors will pray for the city as well as the area's community leaders, government and education officials, and individuals and business owners and staff by industry. A "personal" prayer room is available for anyone who wants additional prayer.  Please join in this special time of pray for our "Marketplace" and community as we also celebrate our 10th year. • May 9: Blessing of the Fleet. The 56th Annual Blessing of the Fleet begins at 4 p.m. with a short tent service at the Destin Fishing Fleet Marina docks behind Fishermen's Wharf Restaurant. A processional follows at 5:15 p.m. for the pastors to individually pray for and bless the charter fishing fleet as each boat passes by. A fish fry follows on the dock. • May 10: Friday is a day designed around the youth of the city.  We encourage them to wear their 2013 Week of Blessings T-shirt to school and be the "light" on their school campus.

• May 11: All are invited to celebrate the 10th Annual Week of Blessings with a celebration on the Destin harbor at HarborWalk Village. Concert begins at 7 p.m. with local band favorite, Shake the City.
