Todd Sawyer Russell
Todd Sawyer Russell, 55, of Niceville, Fla., passed away unexpectedly on June 7, 2013. He was born Feb. 8, 1958 to Lt. Col Tom Sawyer Russell (Ret.) and Alice Marie Russell in St. Cloud, Minn.
Todd was a graduate of Lansing High School and Bemidji State University. He proudly served his country in the United States Army for two years. Todd built his career as the owner of Russell Painting in Niceville.
Todd was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed duck hunting, turkey hunting, fishing, and golfing. Throughout his life, Todd excelled at many sports including basketball, baseball, and football.
More than anything, Todd enjoyed spending quality time with his friends and family. His fondest memories were from hunting trips with his closest friends and family gatherings.
Todd was preceded in death by his father, Lt. Col. Tom Sawyer Russell (Ret.) in 2010.
Todd is survived by his loving wife, Meg Russell of Niceville; daughter, Lindsey Batchelor of Destin; mother, Alice Marie Russell of Sebring, Fla.; brother, Terry Russell of Winter Haven, Fla.; sister-in-law, Gina Russell of Winter Haven; nephew, Zachry Russell of Kansas City, Kan.; niece, Whitney Russell of Kansas City; nephew, Luke Russell of Leavenworth, Kan.; Gerald and Ann McCallister of Midland City, Ala.; Dave and Cindi Pittman of Midland City; Karen Smith of Ozark, Ala.; Shane and April Busby of Ponce de Leon, Fla.; five nephews; two nieces; and best friend, Scott Harris of Niceville.
A celebration of life will be held at 6 p.m. June 13 at Emerald Coast Funeral Home, 113 Racetrack Road, N.E. Fort Walton Beach.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. June 14 at Destin United Methodist Church, 200 Beach Drive. Burial will follow at Heritage Gardens Cemetery in Niceville.
