Gregory W. Baker

Gregory W. Baker was born in 1954 and died July 2, 2013, at the age of 59. His death was unexpected and the family is coping with his passing. He had a massive heart attack. He was the owner of Versa Tile Installations. He also owned the Lantern 2 in Destin during Destin's yesteryears. Greg lived in Destin on Seaview Drive for 20 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fort Walton Beach.

Greg's greatest joy in his life was his two children. His daughter, Brianna, attends FSU and majors in biology. His son, Brock is 16 and attends Fort Walton High School. Brock and his dad enjoyed working at home on an antique car. 

Greg's parents are deceased. Greg's father, Don Baker, and brother, Gary, owned the Lantern in Fort Walton Beach. Greg's dear mother, Wilma Baker once enjoyed employment in her early years at a dress shop called Leon's in the Mary Esther Mall. Greg's brothers, Gary and Gordon, are deceased.

The family is in the process of planning a small short memorial service at 9a.m. July 20 at Redneck Beach near the Destin bridge on Okaloosa Island. If you are interested in attending, dress is casual. Greg was an avid surfer in high school and always loved the water. Friends who have a memory to share are welcome to speak. Your prayers are appreciated.

A. Jane (Slater) Koerner

A. Jane (Slater) Koerner was born Oct. 21, 192O, in Owosso, Mich., and passed away July 9, 2O13, in Destin, Fla.

Jane was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Norman O. Koerner; grandson, Barrett R. Koerner; several sisters and one brother.

Jane is survived by her children, Norma (Jack) Beckman, Karen (Jerry) Desjardins, Norman R. (Debbie) Koerner, Noel E. Koerner; grandchildren, Marcy DesJardins, Shelly Fondaw, Mary Lallier, Margo Findlay, Chester K. Koerner; reat-grandchildren, Barrett, Bailey, Brody, Briley Koerner, Harper and Piper Lallier, Max and Devin Findlay; sister, Carol Watson; and several nieces and nephews.

Jane was a long standing member of Santa Rosa Beach Club, an avid reader and a member of two book clubs;she also enjoyed recreational gambling. J

ane was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Owosso for 75 years. She was a member of "Kings Daughters, a non-denominational charitable organization. She was in 'The Order of the Daughter of The King" or 6O years. Jane practiced daily her three vows of prayer, service and evangelism. Her dedication for her love of God and her family was exemplified in each day of her life.

Jane was a loving, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Her kind and generous heart had no boundaries.

A private burial service will take place in Santa Rosa Beach.

Jane's celebration of life will be held on July 18, 2013.
