Dr. A.N. Oscar O’Steen

Dr. A.N. Oscar O’Steen, 73, of Chipley, passed away Nov. 10, 2013, in Fort Walton Beach.  He was born Oct. 13, 1940, in Jacksonville, Fla., to the late Alva Woodrow and Elsie (Timmons) O’Steen. 

Oscar attended the University of Florida, Medical College of Virginia, Dental College and University of Alabama, Dental School in Birmingham, where he earned his oral surgery training. He practiced from 1969-1996 for a total of 27 years before retiring in Destin and moving back home to Chipley. 

Survivors include his former wife and mother of his children, Judy Ann O’Steen; son, Shannon O’Steen and wife Shirley of Meridian, Miss.; daughter, Moree Lynn Collard and husband Thomas of Deltona, Fla.; brother, Leslie M. O’Steen and wife Maggie of Fort Walton Beach; grandchildren, Kersten, Emilee, T.J., Ashley, Courtney and Brooke; and many great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Nov. 14 at Brown Funeral Home, Main Street Chapel,  in Chipley.

There will be another memorial service at a later date in Destin.

Jeannie Kay Custis

Jeannie Kay Custis, 57, of Destin, Fla., passed away on Nov. 9, 2013.
Jeannie was born in Tampa, Fla., to her late parents Warren and Gloria Custis. In spite of her special needs, she graduated from Fort Walton Beach High School in 1976.

Jeannie’s favorite activities included spending time with her family and attending the Pyramid program where she was so blessed with the friendship of her fellow members and staff. They provided much joy in her life. She had also been a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Destin.

She is survived by her sisters, Norma Custis and Zelda Custis; nieces and nephews, Lance Millonzi, Lori Millonzi, Stephen and Shellie Critten, Eric and Patti Boyd; great-niece, Lillian Critten; and nephews Logan and Gavin Critten.

Jeannie will be remembered for her love of life and her fighting spirit.

Viewing will be at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 13 at Emerald Coast Funeral Home in Fort Walton Beach. Services to follow.
