Vernon G. "Skip" Eisler

Vernon G. "Skip" Eisler, 83, of Destin, Fla., passed away peacefully on Oct. 1, 2012.

Skip was a WWII and Vietnam veteran. He flew with the Thunderbirds for four years and traveled the world in the military as an aerial photographer. He was also a Mason and Shriner for 42 years.

They owned the Village Tinkers Den for many years before finally retiring in Destin.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years, Janell Eisler of Destin; sons, Justin Eisler and Terry Eisler both of Destin; daughters, Judy (and family in New Orleans) Adrien of Destin, Tamatha of New Orleans, Mathecha of New Orleans, Connie and Victoria Greer; stepsons, Dino Russell of Destin, whom he considered his son and helper, and Van Russell of Oxford, Miss., (and all their families); 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Trahan Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Graveside memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Oct. 12 at Barrancas National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the charity of your choice.
