John William Finley, Jr.

John William Finley, Jr., 85, passed away Jan. 4, 2014, at Eglin Air Force Base Hospital. John was born to the late John William and Mary E Willis Finley in Columbus, Ga.

He retired as a tech sergeant in Fort Walton Beach after 20 years of service in the Air Force. He also owned Finley's Auto Electric in DeFuniak Springs for 30 plus years.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Samuel M. Finley of Jackson, Tenn., and a beloved son, retired Navy captain, Allan M Finley, of St. Augustine, Fla.

He is survived by sisters, Beatrice Dunn of Griffin, Ga., and Frances Wilcher of Destin, Fla.; son, John Douglas Finley of Fort Collins, Colo.; daughters, Barbara G (Jack) French of Navarre, Fla., and Kim E (Kenny) Phillips of Shalimar, Fla.; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Family and friends will gather at 11 a.m. Jan. 9 at Rose Lawn Funeral Home in Gulf Breeze. Graveside services will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola, at 1:15 p.m., with Pastor Kenny Phillips officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in John's memory at or to the charity of your choice.

Mrs. Ouida Gail McGaha

Mrs. Gail McGaha of Montgomery, Ala., formerly of Destin, Fla., died Dec. 30, 2013.

She is preceded in death by her husband and the love of her life, John T. McGaha.

Gail is survived by her daughter, Belinda Williamson (husband Donnie); granddaughter, Deidre Perez (husband Thomas); great-grandchildren, Hannah, Kelsey, Zack; and two great-great-grandchildren, all of Montgomery, along with other family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Jan. 9 in the chapel at Grace Lutheran Church, 4325 Commons Drive W., Destin, with Pastor Kevin Wendt officiating.
