Jeanne Marie Mulcair Gannon
Jeanne Marie Gannon, 70, of Destin, Fla., passed away peacefully in her home Jan. 7, 2014. Jeanne was born in Holyoke, Mass., on July 26, 1943, the daughter of Philip and Nan Mulcair.
Jeanne leaves behind her loving husband, Robert Emmet Gannon Jr., whom she married in 1988. Jeanne and Bob relocated to Destin from Connecticut in 1998 after they fell in love with Destin's climate and gorgeous white sand beaches.
In addition to her husband, Jeanne is survived by her sister, Donna Lundy; daughters, Kelly Coleman and Stacey Guggenheim; and grandchildren, Bradley Coleman, and Anya and Aisling Carney.
Jeanne was an avid gardener, an enthusiastic decorator, and a fabulous chef whose holiday feasts are legendary from Connecticut to the Gulf Coast. Jeanne loved being around people, and she will be greatly missed by family and friends.
A visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Jan. 13 at Twin Cities Funeral Home in Niceville.
Barbara Jane (Smith) Morton
Barbara Jane (Smith) Morton, 78, of Bourne, Mass., and Destin, Fla., died at home Jan. 7, 2014, in Destin. She was born in Yonkers, N.Y. in 1935, one of two daughters of Catherine (Schultz) and Edward Smith.
She worked at a variety of office and clerical jobs over the years, before retiring in 1985.
She was a painter in oils, pastels and acrylics of many years practice, and her work brightens the lives of many friends. Until illness prevented it, she was an avid gardener and walker; she remained a voracious reader her entire life.
She was the wife of Alfred Morton, and they were married for 58 years. As wife and mother of a military family, she traveled widely and richly.
Survivors include her husband Alfred; son, Keith Morton and his wife, Kathleen; daughter, Katherine and her husband, Arthur Hallam; dearly loved grandchildren, Sarah, Brenna, Nicholas and Kyle; and sister Caroline and her husband, Frank Grippe.
Her remains will be interred at the National Cemetery in Bourne, Mass. Services will be private.
