Under cloudy skies and light winds, the water is clean and flat at the Okaloosa Island Pier. In the last few days, anglers have pulled in sheepshead and flounder. Live shrimp and fiddler crab work well for bait.
Sheepshead is the ticket right now with folks catching them near the jetties, Destin and Mid-Bay bridges. Live shrimp, fiddler crab and oysters work well if you can find them. Redfish are showing around the bridge and look for schools running near the beach. There are still some flounder to be found on the inshore wrecks. Bull minnows, live shrimp or a grub work well for bait.
The bite has been slow since the ice storm a couple of weeks ago. However, the anglers are still pulling in mingo, white snapper, triggerfish and a few red snapper. Cut squid Boston mackerel are good for mingo and triggers. A few grouper are being caught. No reports from offshore.
