Under mostly sunny skies with a light east wind, the water is clean with a 1-2 foot wave rolling in at the Okaloosa Island Pier Tuesday morning. In the last few days anglers have consistently pulled in sheepshead at the pier. Live fiddler crabs work well for bait. A few whiting are reportedly showing up on the beach near Navarre. Try live shrimp for bait.
Sheepshead is the ticket right now with folks catching them near the jetties, Destin and Mid-Bay bridges. Live shrimp, fiddler crab and oysters work well if you can find them. There are still some flounder to be found on the inshore wrecks. Bull minnows, live shrimp or a grub work well for bait. Speckled trout have moved into the deeper holes and most of the bayous. Live shrimp works well for trout or a grub.
Boats out bottom fishing are catching mingo, white snapper, triggerfish, red snapper and amberjack. Cut squid and Boston mackerel are good for mingo and triggers. A live pinfish or butterfly jig work well for amberjack. Also a few grouper are being caught. No reports from offshore.
