Call to Artists: Destin Library

The Destin Library has issued a call to area artists inviting them to schedule an exhibit at the library. Art exhibits will be showcased in the library’s Calhoun Room, a 1,170 square foot unencumbered area frequented daily by more than 300 library members, visitors and residents.For further details, contact Tina Kaple at or 850-837-8572.

Call to Artists: ADSO

The Arts and Design Society has issued a call to artists to participate in their upcoming art competition, “Fauvism” Show, open to all artists. This show calls for art in any medium to reflect the influence of the Fauve artists.

Art Walk

The merchants of Downtown Fort Walton Beach will hold its next art walk from 5:30-8:30 p.m. April 25 on U.S. 98 in the heart of Downtown Fort Walton Beach.

The public is invited to stroll along the streets Beach where artists will display and sell their local art. There is something for everyone including local art, jewelry and many other handmade creations.

In addition to local artists, live music and entertainment, Fluid Surf Shop sponsors an outdoor surf movie after sunset. The outdoor surf movie is on the corner of U.S. 98 and Ferry Road behind Burrito Del Sol and Bella Day Spa & Hair Studio. The surf movies feature both vintage and new surfer movies, but all are family friendly and free to the public.

Art Walk is held the third Friday of each month with live music, local art and demonstrations, shopping and dining.  It’s a great way to kick off the weekend and a great way to support the community. Future dates include May 16, June 20, July 18 and Aug. 15.

Call to Artists: Destin Seafood Festival

The theme of the 36th Annual Destin Seafood Festival, “Heritage on the Harbor,” celebrates the festival’s location, among the docks, charter boats and fishermen. Artists are invited to submit their handcrafted work showcasing this theme by 11 a.m. June 2. No computer-generated or enhanced artwork will be accepted.

The entries will be voted on by the Destin Seafood Festival Committee and the Destin Charter Boat Association and the winner will be announced on June 15.

The 36th Annual Destin Seafood Festival, Oct. 3-5, will be set up along the length of Destin harbor from Harborwalk Village to Heron Harbor, including Harry T's, Olin Marler's, AJ's, Galati's, Dewey Destin's, the City of Destin Royal Melvin Heritage Park, Fisherman’s Wharf and East Pass Marina.  The location puts the festival right in the heart of the action along the harbor, and the Destin Fishing Rodeo, which takes place the entire month of October.
