John Y and B. J. Christopher relocated from Houston to Fairhope, Ala., in early June. "My Dad first brought me to Destin fishing in 1956 and both of our families have been coming for nearly 60 years," John told The Log. "Our children now do the same with a free place to stay. We have owned places in Destin for 20 years and have owned a west corner unit at the Dunes of Crystal Beach since 2005, which is where the picture of the martini was taken."

While living in Houston, the couple didn't get to spend many nights in Destin, but they now plan to spend 50 percent of the year here. They will be here this weekend for fireworks and some fishing.

Early in their marriage they lived four years in South Africa where late afternoon cocktails were called "Sundowners." Everyone would gather with a preferred cocktail or beverage to watch the sun go down.

"We still travel to South Africa annually and still have our Sundowners in the bush but brought the tradition back to the U.S. with us 35 years ago when we moved back," John said. "In Destin, we always have a Sundowner, usually a martini, Margarita or G&T in summer and whiskey in winter, to watch that marvelous sun go down. From our balcony, we watch the sun go down over the water from October to April and over the Destin skyline otherwise."
