Under partly cloudy skies, the water was clean with a 1-2 foot wave rolling in at the Okaloosa Island Pier Monday. In the last few days anglers have been hooking up with king mackerel, Spanish mackerel, tarpon, bluefish, ladyfish and hardtail.
Redfish and speckled trout are still showing up. Redfish are still biting near the bridge and back in the bayous as well as few black drum. As for trout, they are showing up near the Coast Guard station, around the grass flats and in the bayous. You might even want to try fishing around the docks in the evening for trout.
Most every angler fishing is pulling in their share of red snapper. Remember the limit is two per person and they have to be 16 inches to keep. Other fish caught on those bottom trips include grouper, mingo, white snapper, scamp, black snapper and lane snapper. Trolling for king mackerel has also been good on those four to six hour trips. As for offshore fishing, it's been good with plenty of dolphin, yellowfin tuna and wahoo showing up in the last few weeks.
