DESTIN — A legendary icon is getting a new look.
The well-known double-decker bus outside of McGuire‘s Irish Pub on U.S. Highway 98 in Destin will have brand-new decals across both sides beginning this week.
The white lettering will read “Feasting, Imbibery and Debauchery,” the restaurant‘s slogan.

Along with the new decals, the mannequins that sit inside the bus are sporting a new Saint Patrick‘s Day look.
The dolls are featuring green and white McGuire’s jerseys along with a variety of green hats. Several of the mannequins wear light green top hats with four-leaf clovers on the crown.
“It‘s just something that they started to just add another part of McGuires,” said Patrick Grantello, general manager of McGuires Irish Pub. “There are different themes throughout the restaurant and the mannequins are of those themes.”

The mannequins are outfitted with new clothes for every season based on the theme of that season, Grantello said. He said dolls are changed at least five times throughout the year.
“Excitement” is how Grantello described the reactions of patrons who see the bus. Some find it funny, he said.
Tours of the bus are available upon request, Grantello said. The new look should be ready by Wednesday.

“It adds to another experience that the guest has,” Grantello said.
In total, there are nine buses. Over the years, McGuire‘s owner has collected the buses and shipped them from Dublin, Ireland.
The Destin bus is retired, but there are several working buses in Pensacola. The Pensacola buses are used for parades and races.
► RELATED: McGuire’s bus to undergo repair
In 2018, the Destin bus was involved in a car accident and was out of commission. During that time, another bus was brought in to replace the Destin double-decker until repairs were finished.
According to their site, the Destin restaurant was open in 1996, the second of the two.
“The McGuire’s bus is here to stay,” Grantello said.
