HURLBURT FIELD – The 8th Special Operations Squadron will be conducting a CV-22 Osprey flyover at the start of the NCAA College Football Playoff National Championship game between the Alabama Crimson Tide versus Clemson Tigers at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa tonight.

The CV-22 Osprey is a tiltrotor aircraft that combines the vertical takeoff, hover and vertical landing qualities of a helicopter with the long-range, fuel efficiency and speed characteristics of a turboprop aircraft. Its mission is to conduct long-range infiltration, exfiltration and resupply missions for special operations forces.

The two-ship flyover is planned to air prior to the kickoff, which is scheduled for 7:15 p.m., in conjunction with the last note of the national anthem. The game will be televised on ESPN.
