DESTIN — A search warrant executed by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday led to the arrest of two suspected heroin and crack cocaine dealers.
Leroy Figures, 65, and Jessica Rae Hinds, 31, both of Destin, were charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Figures also was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Hinds also was charged with resisting an officer with violence as well as felony violation of probation.
According to their arrest reports, deputies searched a home at 403 Azalea Drive to serve an arrest warrant on Hinds. Deputies made several attempts to call her, but she did not make her presence known. She eventually was found hiding under a pile of blankets in the back bedroom.
During the search, deputies found a .45-caliber semiautomatic handgun, ammunition, crack cocaine, heroin and drug paraphernalia, according to the reports. They also found a gun magazine with ammunition inside a safe that Figures had a key to. Documents inside the safe also had Figures' name and address, the report said.
The packaging of the drugs was indicative of distribution. Deputies also found an “owe sheet” indicating debts owed and debts paid inside a box with some of the heroin.
Hinds said she and Figures sold heroin and crack cocaine from their home. She also said she observed the handgun under the bed in the past few months, so she put it in Figures' nightstand.
Figures and Hinds are both convicted felons in Florida. Hinds was on felony probation from Dec. 26, 2017 to Dec. 20, 2022.
