The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is processing a project application proposal on the private property that is adjacent to Norriego Point and next to the city of Destin’s Norriego Point easement.
The project application includes proposed plans for the construction of a marina in the Destin Harbor comprised of three docks and a total of 51 boat slips.
According to DEP external affairs manager Brandy Smith, the department received the project application in November of last year and has since responded with a request for more information.
In addition to the marina, the application includes a proposed plan for a “Dredged Material Management Site Plan” on the parcel of land owned by Pointe Resort LLC.
“We don’t know yet exactly what the structure is proposed to be,” Smith said in an email.
Pointe Resort LLC has until the end of the month to provide answers to DEP’s request for additional information on the construction project.
Louisiana businessman and real estate developer Robert J. Guidry is listed as the owner of Pointe Resort LLC on the Okaloosa Property Appraiser’s website.
Guidry’s personal website says that as of 2009, he and his brother “became owners of Emerald Grand Resort and HarborWalk Village” and that he “financed the construction of a 22,000 square foot Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville” in Destin.
He did not return calls seeking comment on the proposed marina.
