A new restaurant concept is coming to Destin and it’s sure to capture the attention of foodies in the Northwest Florida area.

Divieto Ristorante, an Italian-American fusion restaurant with a 1920s Prohibition theme, is scheduled to open in the Destin Commons this fall.

“We are very excited,” said Heather Ruiz, senior director of marketing and leasing for Destin Commons. “It is going to be a pretty extensive build-out and will include two outdoor patios, with a gorgeous interior of black, gold and white tile and a really cool 1920s New York Italian vibe.”

Divieto Ristorante has three other locations in South Florida, Ruiz said, adding that this will be the first on the Florida panhandle.

The new Italian-American restaurant offers more than 70 signature dishes including pasta, pizza, salads, soups, steaks and a full bar. When it comes to unique dining concepts, however, Divieto Ristorante’s popular dish Ruota Di Parmigiano brings a whole new spin on creative plating.

“What they do is they serve up a table-sized cheesy pasta in a giant cheese wheel,” said Ruiz. “They bring out a parmesan cheese wheel then they bring out the hot pasta and it melts directly into it – it’s an epic dish.”

Ruiz said that the new restaurant will be located where La Famiglia and formerly the Hard Rock used to be.

“They are slotted to open in the September-October timeframe,” Ruiz said. “It all depends on construction, permitting and weather but construction should start in the next (month or two).”
