1. Independent Film Series
The Friends Guild of the Destin Library will sponsor a movie, “The Last Movie Star,” a drama, at 2 p.m. Sept. 18 at the Destin Library. The free movie is open to the public and directed toward a mature audience. The film is about an aging former movie star who is forced to face the reality that his glory days are behind him. On its surface, the film is a tale about faded fame. At its core, it's a universal story about growing old.
2. International Talk Like a Pirate Day
Ahoy, matey. Have an evening full of adventure with Captain Davy at 5 p.m. Sept. 18 at The Village of Baytowne Wharf. Come dressed in your best pirate costume and get ready for a scavenger hunt, magic show, costume contests, and more. Event is free.
3. ECTC Season 6
Emerald Coast Theatre Company opens its sixth annual season with the musical “The Spitfire Grill” from Sept. 20 through Oct. 7. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at ECTC’s performance space, 560 Grand Boulevard (upstairs) in Grand Boulevard at Sandestin in Miramar Beach. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. to allow time for browsing artwork by local artists in the Lobby Gallery. Tickets are $35/adults and $32/seniors (55 years old and up), students, and military.
