The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Emerald Coast is gearing up to celebrate its annual Day for Kids to highlight the critical needs of children and teens in the community.

The local event, one of hundreds occurring nationwide, is planned for 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at Fort Walton Landing.

Day for Kids is an initiative to help children and teens become more engaged in their community, live a healthy lifestyle and achieve academic success.

Activities at the Landing will engage adults and children in "play" designed to foster creativity, imagination, exploration and the development and mastery of various skills.

The event celebrates the life-changing work that takes place each day at the Boys & Girls Clubs, where adults are encouraged to spend meaningful time with young people and engage in fun and active play.

“At Boys & Girls Clubs of the Emerald Coast we change the opportunity equation for kids in our community, enabling them to achieve a great future,” CEO Shervin Rassa said. “Day for Kids is a fun way for not only adults to relive their childhood, but for kids to have fun and foster stronger relationships with caring mentors.”
