EGLIN AFB — Eglin Air Force Base and Hurlburt Field will be on a limited-operation status Thursday as both installations conduct damage assessments and restore any needed essential services in the wake of Hurricane Michael brushing the area on Wednesday.

The goal at both bases will be to return to full normal operations Friday, according to news releases and social media posts from the two bases.

Eglin personnel associated with recovery operations, including facility managers, are scheduled to return to work at noon Thursday unless notified otherwise, according to the base's Facebook page.

"Once it is determined that safe operations can be accomplished, commanders/directors will notify additional personnel as needed to restore operations with the goal of normal operations on Friday,"  a Facebook post stated.

Personnel and others with access to the base were advised Wednesday to "expect no services at Eglin on Thursday," including commissary and child development.

The schedule for returning to normal operations is virtually the same for Hurlburt Field, headquarters of Air Force Special Operations Command.

"All services will be closed Thursday, to include fitness centers, ... commissary and the medical group," according to a news release from Hurlburt.

Hurlburt Field closed at 6 p.m. Tuesday in anticipation of Hurricane Michael. Eglin closed down a number of its services at various times throughout the day.
