Kevin Ordonez-Garcia is facing a murder charge following the stabbing death of the teenage mother of his son.

Okaloosa County deputies were called to an apartment complex at 323 Mountain Drive in Destin at about 7:40 p.m. Sunday and found Gabrila Espinal Lainez face down near the front door of residential Unit 4, a news release said.

Lainez had suffered stab wounds to the chest and was bleeding heavily and struggling to breathe, the release said. She was pronounced dead at 8:30 p.m. at the Destin Emergency Room.

The 16-month-old son of the couple was found unharmed, according to the release. He has been placed in the care of the Department of Children and Families.

A male caller who summoned deputies to the scene of the stabbing told dispatchers that the victim had been stabbed in the stomach area with a kitchen knife and identified Kevin Ordonez as the perpetrator, an arrest report said.

Family members and people that knew the couple were present at the apartments, but many did not speak English, according to Sheriff's Office spokesman Michele Nicholson.

One witness, identified as Silvio Fredy Ovalle, told investigators that he had "taken the victim to meet the defendant," the arrest report said.

Ovalle said "he observed a heated argument between the parties" and "he observed the defendant pull the victim's head back by the hair then stab her three to four times."

Ordonez-Garcia's Facebook page lists his relationship status as "separated." Lainez lists her status as "in a relationship." Lainez's photo is featured prominently on Ordonez-Garcia's page. He does not appear on hers.

Witnesses to the crime were able to provide a description of Ordonez Garcia and tell deputies he had left the apartment wearing a white jacket and brown pants.

Ordonez-Garcia was located not long after the stabbing walking along Harbor Boulevard with his clothing, pants, shoes and a sweatshirt, covered in blood. He had "defensive marks on his left shoulder," the arrest report said.

A steak knife matching the description of the one used in the stabbing was located in a dumpster south of Mountain Drive, the arrest report said. Ovalle, the witness, also provided information that led the investigators to the presumed murder weapon, the arrest report said.

The suspect is from Tegucigaipa, Honduras, according to the arrest report. He was unable to provide a Social Security number, according to Nicholson.

Ordonez-Garcia, whose profession is listed as "framing," was arrested in 2014 at a Harbor Boulevard, Destin address and charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana and resisting arrest without violence, court records show.

His Facebook page states he attended both Choctawhatchee High School and Okaloosa Academy.

Ray Sansom, the vice president of school administration for the Radar Group which runs Okaloosa Academy, said there are no records indicating Ordonez-Garcia ever attended. He did go to Choctawhatchee High School for awhile before withdrawing, Sansom said.

Sheriff's Office records indicate Ordonez-Garcia has been in Okaloosa County since at least 2012, according to Nicholson. His Facebook history states he joined the social media website in 2011.
