Members of the Connick Builders baseball team each wore a black ribbon in honor of their fallen coach, Thomas “Rusty” Robinett, at Wednesday night's game. The 7-and 8-year-olds will continue to wear them this season. Coach Rusty, who died in a boating accident Sunday in Destin, was the pitcher for the team, and his son Dean played third base.
“He was a wonderful guy,” Coach Steven Nicholson told The Log, “always smiled, cracked jokes and had a way to get the kids to listen and excel in the game. He was a huge part of our team and his ability to communicate with the kids was effortless. He will be missed by all of us.”
