NICEVILLE — Two middle schools have new leaders after the Okaloosa County School Board on Monday appointed principals for Bruner and Meigs middle schools.

Gary Massey transferred from principal of Shoal River Middle School to principal at Bruner, while Tracey Lamb was promoted from assistant principal of Meigs to become its new principal.

“I appreciate it, Mr. Chambers and the board, this vote of confidence,” Massey said. “I am so excited, I cannot even see straight to go to Bruner.”

Massey graduated from Fort Walton Beach High School in 1989 and has a strong family connection to Bruner, where his wife and two sons attended. The family was presented with two baskets of Spartan accessories after the appointment.

Cynthia Hudson, Bruner's previous principal, recently resigned because of personal reasons.

Lamb takes over at Meigs after former Principal Michelle Heck was appointed principal at Choctawhatchee High School. She said the new position is an honor.

“I am so humbled to be standing here, and so honored,” Lamb said. “I work at the most magical place on Earth. It truly is a family at that school ... and I feel so honored and blessed that I will now get to call Meigs my home.”
